I own a pair of these and use them while chain-sawing and splitting firewood. The extra layer over the thigh/knee area is perfect for that type of work. These are very durable and good any type of work like woodcuttting, carpentry, heavy yard work, ranch work, etc. That being said, they are a bit heavy and thick for everyday casual wear. Overall, they are a quality clothing item and made in the USA, which is a big plus for me.
